I grew up in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. I graduated from the School of Dentisty at University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa (1999). After graduating, I started a private practice in Howick, South Africa, which I held for 17 years. In 2003, I attended University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) where I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Dentistry (lmplantology). In 2010, I moved to Auckland New Zealand, where I worked for the Lumino Dental Group. It was an exciting adventure to live and work in a new country. In 2011, I moved to Wollongong, NSW, Australia, where I worked at a large group practice.
I am always striving to stay current and well versed in the profession’s leading dental care procedures and state-of-the-art technology, supplies and equipment.
Practicing as a general dentist over the years, I found my passion in dentistry to be in the rapidly progressing implant dentistry world and in cosmetic dentistry (Invisalign, Tooth whitening, crowns, bridges and veneers). Its appeal lies in the fact that it is evolving and progressing at an amazing pace. Our ability to recreate natural function and aesthetics for patients is a great benefit and very rewarding for both myself and most importantly “YOU”, the patient!
I enjoy traveling, playing squash and spending time with my family and friends. And of course I love the beach, hence my move to the Gold Coast.
I was born in South Korea and moved to the Gold Coast, Australia when I was 11 years old. I speak fluent Korean and English. After graduating from Queensland Academy for Health Science, I went to Griffith University where I have studied Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Graduate Diploma of Dentistry.
I loved growing up on the Gold Coast with the amazing scenery, people and the weather, as summer is my favourite season of the year.
As a dentist my ultimate goal is to provide my patients an exceptional experience where every patient feels at ease and cared for. I take great pleasure in meeting new people - especially the little ones. It is incredibly rewarding to watch kids wanting to come back to the dental clinic and get excited to see me again.
As a child I have had several unhappy experiences of dentists, so I can truly relate to other people’s fear and nervousness.
I also thoroughly enjoy learning new skills and adapting to the ever-growing technology to be able to deliver outstanding treatments. I am also highly passionate about the aesthetic aspect of dentistry, bringing a new smile to my patients.
When I am not at work I like to spend my time with my friends and family, play piano and travel around the world to experience different cultures.
I was raised and lived in New Zealand before moving up to the sunny Gold Coast with my family where I completed my dentistry degree at Griffith University. After graduation, I worked in a private dental clinic before working as a hospital dentist for the Queensland Government for a period of time. In this time, I’ve found a passion for helping anxious and worried patients feel at ease at the dentist.
I like to spend as much time as I can with my patients, as I am very eager to explain every little thing about their treatments in an understandable manner.
I listen to their past experiences so that I can tailor their treatment with minimal stress and to provide my patients with the highest level of care and respect. As a general dentist, I take pride in all aspects of dentistry and am really committed towards enhancing my skills and knowledge through continuing education courses and programs that enables me to provide the latest and evidence based dentistry to my patients. In particular, I am passionate about easing patient’s dental pain with minimal discomfort and in preventing complications caused by the eruption of wisdom teeth.
When I am not creating new smiles at work, I thoroughly enjoy playing hockey and tennis with my friends, and also love to go out with my family on adventures – especially camping and fishing!
