Most children with reasonable dental health will need to visit us at six monthly intervals but the exact frequency will be determined during their initial visit to our practice. Regular dental check-ups allow our dentist to closely monitor your child’s dental health and the development of their teeth and jaws.
What to Expect during a Check-up?
During a check-up, our dentist will gently yet thoroughly assess your child’s teeth and gums and they will look at the way their jaws are developing. We do need to take regular dental x-rays because children’s teeth and jaws develop so quickly. It’s essential to check the position of teeth yet to erupt and dental x-rays allow us to obtain a more complete picture of the overall dental health. Our practice has state-of-the-art digital dental x-ray equipment that only omits extremely low levels of radiation and we take every precaution to keep young children safe. Your child’s teeth will also be professionally cleaned and oral hygiene education is an important part of this visit.
Why Is Oral Hygiene Education Important?
It is vital that your child grows up knowing how to look after their teeth and gums. Our dentist can talk to them about the importance of good oral care and will show them how best to brush and floss. We are highly experienced in making this as fun and as interesting as possible.
